In Romans 6:14, we read; For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Taken by itself, this verse seems to imply we are no longer under the law. But what Paul is saying here is this; we are no longer under the oral law. If we are no longer under the oral law, then the written law and our obedience to it give us grace. This is why John 1:17 says, For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. As a trained Rabbi and trained in the oral law (Gal 1:14), Paul believed the oral law and the written law were given through Moses. So what John is saying here in John 1:17 is this; the oral law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus who taught us to obey the written law and the written law only. This is the same thing as Paul says in Rom 6:14, the written law gives us grace.
Do you need grace today?
Make sure to follow the written law of Moses being reconciled to Yehovah by the cross; then, you will see an abundance of grace in your life.
