Jesus is not your savior

Most Christians would say Jesus is My Savior and Lord. If we are serious about our faith, we have to ask the question, where in the Bible do we see Jesus referring to Himself as Savior? We know He is our Lord from Luk 6, but we never see Him referring to Himself as Savior. If we take a closer look at John 3:16, which is the foundation for our salvation, we will quickly realize Jesus is not our Savior. The text in John 3:16 says, for so has God loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. So the one who has saved us is not Jesus; it is God.

Who is God?

As we all know, God’s name is not God. God is a title, not a personal name. So the question we should be asking is, what is the name of the God who loves (John 3:16)?

The answer to this question is in Matthew 1:21; “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.”

We all know that Jesus did not speak English; He spoke Hebrew, and His name in Hebrew is Yeshua. Yeshua is short for Yehoshua, which means Yehovah saves. So in the name of Jesus lies the answer to our question, our Savior, is Yehovah and not Jesus. Therefore we could just as well translate John 3:16 as, “for so has Yehovah loved the world.”

Exodus 3 says the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the Old Testaments’ name is Yehovah. So the God of the Old Testament is the same God who saved you by giving His Son so you could have eternal life.

Who is your Savior?

I hope your answer is Yehovah, the God of Abraham, Isac, and Jacob. The God who saved Israel from Egypt, the God who loves you so much that He was willing to give His Son for your sins.

Yehovah has proven Himself time and time again He is more than willing and more than capable of saving those who come to Him. (2. Chron 7:14) He can save you from sin, from disease, and from whatever might come your way as long as you love Him. (Deut 28:1-14). How do we show our love for Him? John 14 and 2.Chron 7 says when we repent from breaking the law of Moses.

Do you need salvation from sin and circumstances in your life? Do you need a strong Savior?

Yehovah is the only one who can save you.
