Weekly devotion: Who do you worship?

15 October 2019
Series: Devotional
Topic: worship

Speaker: Apostle Ernie

What would you say if someone asked you which God you worship? Is it the Christian God? Is it Jesus? Perhaps it is just God? But what would you say if they asked you to describe your God? Most Christians’ default answer is “look to Jesus.”

What would happen if they took us on our word and looked to Jesus? They would see a man born in Israel by a Hebrew Jewish mother. A man who healed the sick raised the dead, opened the blind eyes, and cleansed the temple with a whip. They would see a man who dies a painful and gruesome death on the cross and gets raised the third day again.

They would also see a man who taught His disciples to worship Yehovah. A man who taught His disciples to always at all times obey the Torah (the written law of Moses) and never follow the Pharisee’s human-made doctrines and traditions. A man who claimed to be Yehovah’s Son. They would see someone who did not rebuke people who worshiped Him, but at the same time, He taught people to worship Yehovah.

What would happen if they, after they had looked to Jesus, where to look to Christians to see what God they worship? Or more to the point, what would happen if they were to look to you to see which God you worshiped?

Would they see someone who imitates the life of their Lord and Savior Yeshua? Then they would see a man, or a woman, who obeys the Torah the way Yeshua did. A man, or a woman, who keeps Shabbat, eat only clean foods and follows the rest of the 613 commandments applicable to their gender. Someone who believes Yeshua died for their sins on the cross, and because of their belief in the cross have chosen to obey the Torah. Then they would see someone who is a Christian and worships the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, whose name is Yehovah.

What would you say if someone asked you which God you worship?

I hope your life testifies to which God you worship, so nobody has to wonder and ask you that question.
